Xiaomi has officially launched its latest budget smartphone, the Redmi A5, in India. Aimed at entry-level users, the device offers a balanced mix of performance, modern features, and affordability.

The Redmi A5 will go on sale starting April 17 at 12 PM on mi.com. It will also be available on Amazon, Flipkart, and through major offline retail stores.

The phone is designed for users seeking a reliable smartphone experience without exceeding their budget.

It is available in two configurations:

  • 3GB RAM + 64GB storage – Rs 6,499
  • 4GB RAM + 128GB storage – Rs 7,499

Both variants support up to 2TB of expandable storage via microSD card, making them ideal for users with high storage demands.

The Redmi A5 is offered in three colour options: Jaisalmer Gold, Pondicherry Blue, and Just Black.

Specifications and features

The smartphone features a 6.88-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate, ensuring smoother scrolling and more responsive touch input. The display includes Triple TÜV Rheinland certification to reduce eye strain and reaches up to 600 nits of peak brightness.

With an IP52 rating, the device offers basic protection against dust and water splashes.

The phone includes a 32MP dual AI rear camera setup and an 8MP front camera for selfies and video calls.

Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a bottom-firing speaker with a 150% volume boost for enhanced audio.
