St. Stephen’s College Sonipat
The Delhi Brotherhood Society, which established the Capital’s reputed St. Stephen’s College, is establishing a school at Rai in Sonipat, Haryana, from the upcoming academic session i.e. 2024-25.
The school will be known as St. Stephen’s Cambridge School.
Brother George Solomon, who is associated with DBS for the last three decades, says, “Construction work for St. Stephen’s School is completed. The school building is very modern with a very rich library, science laboratories and a huge playground.”
Solomon is hopeful that people in Haryana would send their kids to St. Stephen’s Cambridge School as the parent body has emotional connection with pre-independence leader Sir Chhotu Ram, who was born in Rohtak and studied at the St. Stephen’s College.
It will be a co-educational school and will have classes from 1st to 12th.
Soloman hopes that the St. Stephan’s Cambridge School will set a new bench-mark in imparting quality education to kids of Haryana.
It may be recalled that the members of Delhi Brotherhood Society (DBS) were at the forefront during freedom movement of India.
CF Andrews was among the founders of DBS. He was a close friend of Mahatma Gandhi. Thanks to him, Gandhiji visited Delhi for the first time in Delhi in 1915 and stayed at St. Stephen’s College campus.
From slum community development to fighting illegal bonded labour, working with the children of sex workers, and providing aid for a leprosy colony besides other initiatives, DBS runs a host of projects in the service of society.
