Delhi Police on Thursday filed a 1,500-page chargesheet against BJP MP and Wrestling Federation of India outgoing chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh along with a recommendation to cancel a complaint filed by a minor wrestler against him.
Regarding the complaint filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, the Delhi Police completed their investigation and submitted a police report under section 173 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
The report requests the cancellation of the case based on the statements given by the victim’s father and the victim herself. The police spokesperson, Suman Nalwa, issued a statement confirming these developments.
In addition to the POCSO case, another case has been registered against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh based on a complaint lodged by other wrestlers. The chargesheet filed in this case includes offenses under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), and 354D (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Vinod Tomar, a suspended assistant secretary of the WFI, has also been implicated in the chargesheet. He faces charges under sections 109 (abetment of any offense, if the act abetted is committed in consequence, and where no express provision is made for its punishment), 354, 354A, and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
