A group of individuals allegedly assaulted a man, his wife, and his sister in southeast Delhi’s Sunlight Colony area, police said.
At 2:30 am on Friday, the police were alerted from Kilokari village about an incident where a man had been taken to the hospital due to physical assault.
The victim, a resident of Jeevan Nagar in Ashram, sustained abrasions on his knees, redness, and swelling in the eyes, along with swelling on the left side of his forehead.
Reportedly, the victim, his wife, and his sister were escorting a friend home during the night spanning Thursday and Friday.
According to a police officer, “While en route, three unknown individuals, including a woman, approached them, seeking help to book an Uber ride to Munirka as their phone batteries had died”.
As they waited for the ride confirmation, one of the individuals began verbally abusing and insulting the man. The situation escalated as the man’s wife and sister were also assaulted by the same individual.
“The accused subsequently summoned more individuals to the scene, and they also participated in the attack,” said the official.
The police have registered a case under the pertinent legal provisions and are actively pursuing the arrest of the accused parties. (With inputs from PTI)
