Water Minister Atishi of Delhi has sent complaints related to the Delhi Jal Board from 42 MLAs to the chief secretary on Monday, instructing him to address all issues by March 15.
Responding to Atishi’s directive, Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar instructed the CEO of the Delhi Jal Board to submit a comprehensive report on the actions taken regarding the complaints by March 13.
Earlier, Atishi had directed Kumar to compile a detailed report on all grievances by March 14 for presentation during the assembly session on March 15.
“In light of numerous complaints regarding sewage overflow, contaminated water, and pipeline leaks across Delhi, 42 MLAs have submitted grievances to the assembly speaker,” Atishi stated.
She highlighted the severity of the complaints, noting that on March 9, the assembly speaker had to cancel a scheduled discussion to address matters concerning the Delhi Jal Board.
“The water minister has given the chief secretary a one-week ultimatum to resolve all issues related to the Delhi Jal Board,” the statement read.
Atishi also requested the chief secretary to provide daily progress reports on the resolution of the complaints by 6 pm.
“The chief secretary must ensure his presence during the assembly session on March 15,” Atishi emphasized.
On March 8, Atishi had forwarded 80 complaints regarding sewage overflow, contaminated water, and pipeline leaks to the chief secretary.
In a subsequent communication to the CEO of the Delhi Jal Board, Kumar instructed the submission of a report addressing the grievances raised by the 42 MLAs.
Kumar stressed the importance of submitting daily action taken reports on the MLAs’ grievances received from the Delhi Assembly speaker by 5:30 pm to be sent to the water minister.
Furthermore, he mandated the submission of a comprehensive action taken report by Wednesday on the grievances, prioritizing this task.
