Three men allegedly carjacked an SUV at gunpoint near the Qutub Institutional Area in southwest Delhi, police said on Tuesday.

The incident occurred around 5 AM on Sunday on Shaheed Jeet Singh Marg, when the accused reportedly forced the driver into the back seat before taking control of the vehicle. An hour later, they dropped him off and fled with the car.

According to a police officer, the victim, Sagar, was waiting inside his employer’s Tata Harrier SUV outside a restaurant while his employer and his wife attended a party inside. At that time, three men entered the car through the rear door.

Sagar told the police that the SUV was parked when the carjacking took place. One of the men, who was armed with a pistol, got into the driver’s seat and drove the car away.

During the ordeal, the suspects allegedly assaulted Sagar and held him inside the moving vehicle for nearly an hour. They also robbed him of his mobile phone and some cash.
