Delhi weather: Delhi and surrounding areas are expected to receive more rainfall on Wednesday, following a day of intense downpour that disrupted daily life across the national capital. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain for July 30, with partly cloudy skies and the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning.
The maximum temperature is likely to remain between 30 and 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum could be around 26 degrees.
Traffic disruptions and travel advisories
Tuesday’s sudden rainfall led to widespread waterlogging and traffic jams, especially in low-lying parts of the city. Areas such as ITO, Lodhi Estate, Dhaula Kuan, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and Pragati Maidan witnessed heavy water accumulation, resulting in delays during peak traffic hours. Similar issues were reported from Panchkuian Road, Moti Bagh, Mukherjee Nagar, and Pul Prahladpur.

In response to the weather conditions, advisories were issued by the Indira Gandhi International Airport and airlines like IndiGo and Air India, warning travellers of possible delays.
Air quality remains satisfactory
Despite the ongoing humidity and heat, Delhi’s air quality continued to stay in the ‘satisfactory’ category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 61 at 9 am on July 30, compared to the 24-hour average of 72 recorded on July 29.
The CPCB classifies AQI values as follows: 0–50 (good), 51–100 (satisfactory), 101–200 (moderate), 201–300 (poor), 301–400 (very poor), and 401–500 (severe).
Rain alerts in other states
A heavy rainfall warning has been issued for parts of Rajasthan for July 30. Districts including Baran, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Jhalawar, Kota, and Pratapgarh have been identified as vulnerable.
Additionally, orange alerts have been issued for Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh. The IMD has said that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to continue across parts of northwest, east, and northeast India over the coming days.

However, from August 1, rainfall activity is projected to reduce over central and southern parts of the country for nearly a week.
