Natya Vriksha presents the Bharatanatyam debut of Anvita Jain under the tutelage of Padmashri Geeta Chandran

A ceremonial evening of Bharatanatyam marking a young dancer’s debut will take place at the Chinmaya Mission Auditorium, Lodhi Estate, on August 8 from 6:30 PM onwards. The performance marks the Arangetram of Anvita Jain, presented by Natya Vriksha and curated by Padmashri Guru Geeta Chandran.

An Arangetram—literally, “ascending the stage”—is the first full solo performance of a classical dancer after years of intensive training. Anvita, a student of Modern School, Barakhamba Road, has been studying Bharatanatyam since the age of seven under Chandran’s guidance. Known for her dedication and expressive depth, Anvita has previously performed at cultural platforms including the Niti Bagh Durga Puja and CBSE national events.

The evening will be graced by Padmashri Vidushi Malini Awasthi as Chief Guest. The performance will reflect both technical mastery and the deeper philosophical dimensions of the art form as imparted by Geeta Chandran, who is renowned for using Bharatanatyam to explore themes of mythology, ecology, feminism, and spirituality.
