Delhi Police: The Delhi Police has busted a racket involved in the manufacturing and selling of counterfeit engine oil filters and arrested two men for alleged trademark infringement, an official said on Sunday.
The accused were identified as Dinesh Gupta, 64, a resident of Ashok Vihar, and Rajesh Gupta, a resident of Shalimar Bagh.
According to police, the accused posed as authorised distributors of the Fleetguard brand to deceive wholesalers and consumers.
Based on a complaint lodged by Yashpal Sapra, Fleetguard’s brand protection manager, regarding the sale of fake filters in Delhi markets, a police team raided their premises in Ashok Vihar and seized 1,600 fake filters. Another raid in Shalimar Bagh led to the recovery of 98 filters.
“A total of 1,698 counterfeit Fleetguard filters packed in 130 boxes were seized during the raids,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Bhisham Singh said.
Police said further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain and those involved.

10 years in hiding: Rohini ashram’s self-styled godman, accused of rape, found dead
Cutting through a narrow alleyway in Rohini Sector 5, the eyes fall upon a decrepit and almost hideous building towering over the locality. Moss creeps across the façade, obscuring lettering that once read Adhyatmik Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya. The structure juts out like a sore thumb within the residential area.
Once central to a harrowing case that cut a devastating gash across the country, the building now serves mostly as a sad reminder of its past. While one self-proclaimed godman, Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati, has gone into hiding following allegations of sexual abuse at a private institute, another remains at large — and has been for more than a decade.
Saraswati faces five cases, including charges of sexual harassment, fraud and forgery. Virendra Dev Dixit, lived on till the age of 82, according to the CBI, while the agency failing to apprehend him during his lifetime. His death was confirmed on September 30, with the investigative agency informing a special court about the development.
Delhi’s artificial rain trial may be delayed due to weather conditions
Delhi Pollution: The Delhi government’s plan to conduct artificial rain trials in the city could be pushed back as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) is yet to give a clear go-ahead, officials said.
With a western disturbance likely to bring rain later this week, officials said the experiment will only be held when dry weather is assured. Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said the trial can yield meaningful results only if carried out in clear weather conditions.
“We will wait until IMD gives us a green light and confirms there is no possibility of rain. Otherwise, there is no point in conducting the trial,” he said.
