Red Fort Blast: At least eight people were killed and many 24 injured after an explosion ripped through a vehicle near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi on Monday evening, police said. The blast also damaged nearby vehicles and sent panic across the busy area.
Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha confirmed that the explosion occurred around 6:52 PM when a slow-moving vehicle stopped at a red light. “An explosion happened in that vehicle, and due to the explosion, nearby vehicles were also damaged,” he told reporters at the scene.

Top investigative agencies, including the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA), have been called to the site to collect evidence and determine the cause of the blast.
“Some people have died, and some have been injured in the incident. The situation is being closely monitored. The Home Minister has also been briefed, and updates are being shared with him regularly,” Commissioner Golcha added.
Security has been tightened across the national capital, and traffic restrictions have been imposed in the Red Fort and Chandni Chowk areas as teams continue their investigation into what triggered the deadly explosion.
Meanwhile, Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh is on high alert after eight people died and 24 were injured in a high-intensity explosion in a car at a crowded area near the Red Fort in Delhi today, according to sources.
Police in all districts of Uttar Pradesh were also put on high alert. An order was issued from Lucknow to increase patrols and checks in sensitive areas.

At least eight people were killed and 24 others injured in a powerful car explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi on Monday evening, officials said. The blast, which occurred near Gate Number 1 of the metro station, also triggered a fire that engulfed three to four nearby vehicles, according to the Delhi Fire Department.
The injured were rushed to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital, where Medical Superintendent Dr. Suresh Kumar told ANI that “Eight of them died before reaching the hospital. Three are seriously injured, and one is in stable condition.”
