Rekha Gupta inaugurates two-lane bridge in East Delhi

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday inaugurated a two-lane slip road bridge from East Delhi’s Ghazipur to Hindon Canal.

She was accompanied by Delhi BJP president and Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Harsh Malhotra, and Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh.

In an X post, Gupta said the new connectivity will make commuting easier for lakhs of people in Kondli, Kalyanpuri, Ghazipur and surrounding areas, reduce traffic pressure, and help save time.

“Our effort is to ensure that the benefits of development in Delhi are directly visible in people’s daily lives. Through better roads, smoother traffic and modern connectivity, our government is continuously improving the Ease of Living for Delhi residents,” she said.

PWD minister Parvesh Sahib Singh said Kondli and nearby areas had been facing traffic jams because the project had been lying incomplete for six years. After coming to power, the BJP government cleared the pending issues, including payment to the contractor, and completed the project, he said.

The Barapulla flyover, which had been under construction for the last 10 years, was also completed and will be inaugurated soon, he said.

Harsh Malhotra, who is also the East Delhi MP, said development projects that had been stalled for years are now progressing rapidly, with the capital city racing ahead on a new path of development.

The inauguration of the new bridge over a large drain in Kondli will facilitate better connectivity and smoother commuting for thousands of citizens from Trilokpuri, Kondli and Patparganj assembly constituencies, he said.
