Light rain likely in Delhi

Delhi may see light rain during the day as partly cloudy skies persist, with the minimum temperature settling at 27.2 degrees Celsius

Delhi woke up to partly cloudy skies on Friday, with the weather office forecasting light rain during the day.

The minimum temperature settled at 27.2 degrees Celsius at Safdarjung, the city’s base station.

Station-wise data showed that the minimum temperature was 25.4 degrees Celsius at Palam, 1.7 notches below normal, 27.2 degrees Celsius at Lodhi Road, 1.2 notches above normal, 23.4 degrees Celsius at Ridge, 2.2 notches below normal, and 27.3 degrees Celsius at Ayanagar, 1.2 notches above normal.

The relative humidity was recorded at 88 per cent, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Delhi recorded light rainfall at most weather stations in the 24 hours ending 8.30 am on Friday, with Ridge receiving 7.6 mm, followed by Safdarjung (3.3 mm), Palam (3.0 mm) and Lodhi Road (1.1 mm). Ayanagar recorded no rainfall during the period.

The city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 103 at 9 am, falling in the “moderate” category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.

According to the CPCB’s AQI scale, a reading between 0 and 50 is considered “good”, 51-100 “satisfactory”, 101-200 “moderate”, 201-300 “poor”, 301-400 “very poor” and 401-500 “severe.”
