Security and traffic arrangements have been put in place at Laxmi Narain Mandir, popularly known as Birla Mandir, in central Delhi ahead of Shri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations on September 4, police said on Wednesday.
According to the New Delhi district police, devotees visiting the main temple will be allowed to enter exclusively through Mandir Marg, which can be accessed from Kali Bari Marg or Peshwa Road.
Entry will be regulated through Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMDs) installed at the main entry points, and visitors have been advised to cooperate with security personnel during checking.
Handbags, briefcases, parcels, food packets, cameras, mobile phones and other battery-operated equipment will not be permitted inside the temple complex.
The temple authorities have arranged facilities for depositing footwear near Kali Bari Marg and beside the Hindu Maha Sabha office on Peshwa Road, the police said.
Entry to Geeta Bhawan and the Vatika will be permitted only through the main temple gates, while all other entry gates to the temple complex will remain closed.
Separate exit routes have been designated to regulate the devotees’ movement.
Those heading towards Kali Bari Marg will have to exit through the Vatika Geeta Bhawan Exit Lane, while those heading towards Peshwa Road will have to use Gate No 3 on the Geeta Bhawan side. The gate will be used only for exit.
To facilitate pedestrian movement, vehicular traffic will not be allowed on Mandir Marg between the Panchkuian Road roundabout, Park Street roundabout on Kali Bari Marg, Udyan Marg and Peshwa Road.
An assistance booth has also been set up near the temple main gate to help visitors with their queries.
