With the advent of spring, Delhi is once again donning its flowery attire. Throughout February and March, public parks and gardens across the capital burst into an array of colours, providing a comforting experience for nature enthusiasts.
Not just confined to the designated garden spaces, but the colourful blooms extend to the roadside, making it an absolute delight to explore the city during this time.
1. Amrit Udyan: For those seeking a visual treat amidst a unique blend of Mughal and British era architecture, Amrit Udyan, formerly known as Mughal Garden, is a must-visit. Open to the public during the Udyan Utsav festival from February 2 to March 31, this garden inside the Rashtrapati Bhavan compound showcases a mesmerising variety of tulips, roses, flower carpets, bonsai, and many other floral species.
2. Tulip Festival: Another attraction that adds to the beauty of the season is the Tulip Festival, where 300,000 tulips in eight stunning colours, including purple, white, yellow, red, pink, orange, black, and yellow-red, are set to grace the event. This festival at Shanti Path, Chanakyapuri, offers live music, performances, and a food festival showcasing dishes crafted with edible flowers.
3. Lodhi Garden: For a peaceful stroll amidst blossoming trees and historic monuments, Lodhi Garden becomes a must-visit during spring. The 90-acre expanse comes alive with red Kusum flowers, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely outing.
4. Sunder Nursery: Here, spring brings forth a myriad of colors with red poppies, sweet William carnations, cinerarias, salvias, pansies, and more. It is a delightful place to enjoy the various blossoms.
5. Nehru Park: Finally, Nehru Park’s flower arrangements, featuring marigolds and petunias, provide a rejuvenating haven, inviting visitors to take a moment of tranquility amidst the bustling city life.
In essence, Delhi during spring not only presents a visual feast but also offers an opportunity to engage with nature in its vibrant glory, making it an experience to remember for all who visit.
