Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister of Delhi, ordered officials to take severe action against contractors who break rules at city road building sites on Thursday.
The instructions were given at a meeting to examine the development of 16 roads’ continuing streetscaping project, which is being done as a pilot project.
The statement claims that Sisodia witnessed a few instances where contractors failed to adhere to the established safety and security criteria.
In the meeting, Sisodia stated that all of these pilot stretches would undergo a weekly on-site inspection to assess their progress.
According to the statement, the contractors are required to take certain precautions on the job site, including providing enough lighting, barricades, regular water spraying to control dust, signage for the buffer zone, the deployment of watchmen or traffic marshals, covering construction equipment, maintaining the roads nearby the construction site, and maintaining cleanliness.
“The Kejriwal government is committed to provide safe and well-designed roads to residents of Delhi and is working diligently on giving them a make-over as per European standards,” the statement quoted Sisodia as saying.
The following 16 road segments are being redeveloped as part of a pilot programme: Ring Road from Mayapuri to Moti Bagh Junction, Ring Road from AIIMS to Ashram, Vikas Marg from Laxmi Nagar Chungi to Karkari Mod, Narwana Road from Mother Dairy to Punch Mahal Niwas, Britannia Chowk to Outer Ring Road, West Enclave in Pitampura, Wazirpur Depot Crossing (NSP) to Ri
The local administration is beautifying 540 kilometres of roads as part of a project, and these 16 routes are among them.
