The Vijay Ram Foundation, a non-profit organisation established by a freelance visual artist Sangeeta Singh in memory of her late parents, Lt Col RPS Raghuvanshi and Vijay Raghuvanshi, is set to organise an Art Exhibition titled ‘A Stitch in Time’. The exhibition will be held from July 30 to August 5, 2023, at the Chestnut Hues Art Studio located at D-1104, Sispal Vihar, Sector 49, Sohna Road, Gurgaon. The timings for the exhibition will be from 11:00 AM to 6:30 PM.

The event will kick off with a preview of the exhibition on July 29, starting from 6:00 PM onwards. On the same day, the foundation will present the 1st Vijay Ram Ratna Award to the winners of the art show.

According to organisers, the exhibition will feature 10 artists between the ages of 20 and 35, who will showcase their exceptional artworks, selected by a distinguished jury consisting of prominent figures within the art fraternity, namely Sangeeta Gupta, Dharmendra Rathore, and Vimmi Indra.

Among the selected artists whose works will be exhibited are Ashwin Khapare, Bikash Chandra Senapati, Gulbahar, Nitesh Panchal, Rajneesh Singh, Restin MT, Rivya Bakutra, Sachin Sharma, Varun Jaiswal, and Vivek Pal, they said.

During the event, the first three artists, namely Vivek Pal, Varun Jaiswal, and Gulbahar, will receive awards of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000, and Rs 20,000, respectively, for their outstanding contributions, they added.

The theme of the curated group show, “A Stitch in Time,” aims to explore the intricate relationship between time, action, and consequence. It encourages contemplation on the transformative power of art, symbolizing repair, mending, and healing on both personal and societal levels.

Arts adviser, writer, and curator Sushma K Bahl, as well as Nidhi Jain, Director of Gallery Ragini will be the chief guests for the event.

Vivek Pal, one of the artists featured in the show, shared his thoughts on his work, which focuses on highlighting the issues of violence and waste in society.

“My home is in a colony that has a huge dumpster or garbage park and I started this work series inspired by it. In my art practice, humans are a world of violence and waste,” said Vivek Pal.

“I consistently try to add more nuanced layers to the meanings in my works,” Pal added, describing his approach to using different mediums in his art.

Varun Jaiswal, an artist intrigued by the interplay of colors and their depth, said, “The true essence of painting lies in the understanding of life. If the experience is genuine, and I am truly dedicated to the craft, the final result is sure to be remarkable.”

Jaiswal further explained, “The process is often seen as a form of catharsis, a way for artists to channel their own emotions and experiences into their work and to share those experiences with others.”

Gulbahar, known for her constant search for artistic interpretation, shared, “I do not limit myself to one medium, style, or concept. Inspiration and ideas change, and each piece I create is simultaneously an extension from the past.”

“When I look at the photograph, I discover a lot of interesting things in them,” Gulbahar emphasised, speaking about her photography and how it influences her paintings.

The Vijay Ram Foundation extends its gratitude to all the participating artists and the esteemed jury for their discerning eye and expertise. The exhibition promises to be a celebration of talent and creativity, sending profound messages through the artworks on display.
