Personal experiences

What: An online exhibition of paintings by Daniela Reis from Portugal based in the artist’s own exploration, reflection and experience of the ‘feminine’ is ongoing. Titled ‘Not The Whole Body Is Flesh’ the artist works with oil on canvas, oil on paper, enamel and digital painting. In the search for it, for the difference and the alternate in what is a common territory of stereotypes and domination relationships. As the title suggests, he is also interested in exploring a side of the experience that goes beyond the immediate relationship with objects, physicality and the flesh itself. Her paintings are strongly influenced by what she reads and her personal experiences. In general, her series of paintings are related through a thematic or at a more formal level like colour or construction of space. Each set of works always arises from curiosity and ends when another interest becomes more pressing.

Virtual exploration

What: The second iteration of ‘Possible Worlds’, conceptualized by Martand Khosla, in collaboration with Reena Saini Kallat is on display. When the absolute fundamental values of space, time, materiality, thought process and the sensory world are questioned, the possibility of designing in the virtual world for the virtual world, begin to allow for a range of new ways and new processes whose surface we’ve only begun to scratch. From that starting point, Khosla has proposed to place thought of an enclosure in the form of a sketch within this virtual Tabula Rasa. Over the course of the project, he has proposed to articulate and explore this proposition while interacting and collaborating with a number of artists, whose work explores ideas of time and space. The project is planned as a series of 10 virtual experiences created with the works of 10 artists over a year. It is envisioned as an incremental process which begins with the foundational assumptions of space and sketch laid out.

Street Art

What: After two successful series exploring the various intersections of art and related fields, the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art now looks to explore the realm of public art. An increasingly popular art form that is slowly finding its footing in India, this new series titled ‘Art Meets Street’, seeks to engage with a diverse group of street artists and explore the creative process and individual stories associated with it. The idea behind this series is to build on personal expression that evolves into a cultural representation of a city or time in the public space. To explore the interaction between the artwork and the people who grow up around it, pass it on their way to commute, or see it just once. How do these interactions impact the thought process and the collective consciousness? Public art in a way embodies the democratisation of art in society, as an alternative to art in galleries or private collections.
