Art week

What: A week-long celebration of modern and contemporary art in the capital – Delhi Art Week (DAW) is a new, independent and collaborative initiative by the city’s leading contemporary Art Galleries . It aims to bring together private and public art institutions to raise awareness, educate and focus attention on modern and contemporary art in New Delhi. The aim is to inject fresh energy into the art scene in the capital. This art- focused week will witness curated shows, talks and walkthroughs from 37 galleries and institutions in their own spaces in the city. DAW aims to put visual arts in the forefront, and collectively create an awareness and love for the arts. The city has been divided into four art zones, where one can find clusters of galleries and institutions listed in each zone.

When: April 3 – 10

Where: 37 Galleries; 2 Museums and 4 Art Institutions

 

Exploring practices

What: The pursuit of artist Gopa Roy’s works is the anecdote of exploring her origin state Tripura, which is endowed with the incredible beauty of nature and unique traditions, that offers her experimenting with the materiality of nature, by exploring numerous textures, patterns, shapes, and colours. Titled ‘Existence’, this exhibition explores the creative practice of Gopa, working with the diverse concepts and circumstances enduring beyond the conventional medium of art. The journey of her works navigates among the vivid dimensions of the material and its process of understanding. The use of cow dung, soil, earth colours, watercolour, jute, rice flour is creating new possibilities in visual art practices. Her practice has a strong sense of confidence in terms of experimenting with resources and emphasizing the realms of socio-political or personal experiences as well as other treatises.

Cherry blossom

 What: It’s time to head to the city’s popular Japanese restaurant Kampai as they celebrate Hanami Festival, the Japanese traditional custom of welcoming spring and enjoying the beauty of cherry blossoms. Decked up in Cherry Blossom flowers and cherry blossom coloured decor, Kampai’s interiors look stunning. The restaurant is celebrating the festival with a range of new food and cocktails curated just for this occasion. The special menu will offer a special Hanami inspired food menu featuring authentic delicacies like Hayashi Chukka, Black rice chumaki sushi roll, Futomaki sushi roll, Eel avocado roll, Hanami ebi tempura and a varied selection of Don Buri Bowls. Along with the food, Kampai is offering Sakura-themed cocktails like Geisha, Sakura Martini, Hanami G&T with exotic flowers, Hanami Chuhai and Gin plum based Leisure sheet.
