City on canvas

What: Art Konsult presents a solo show by Banoj Mohanty: City Tales – an exhibition that embarks on the journey of an artist in two cities and the challenges he faces while exploring the opportunities in tandem with friends.  It’s a unique exhibition that will depict an artist’s challenges and adjustments as he moves from a simple living city to a metropolis of opportunities. With fifty works of Mohanty, this exhibition will focus on the medium of mixed media that the artist uses in portraying his emotions. His artworks define the changing society, the hardship one goes through while adjusting to a new environment, the game of survival, and friends. The artist also believes, just as the coin has its two sides, humans have their sides too, a side that determines society.  For him, the critical understanding and the importance of education becomes most necessary in regulating whether the city is good or bad.

Abstract hues

What: Presented by Vadehra Art Gallery, eighteen works rendered in oil on canvas, ‘Touched by the Sun’ runs the gamut of Paramjit Singh’s quintessential explorations of nature but importantly moves his impressionist vocabulary into the realm of abstraction. Singh studies the colours of fall in New York City over two years, the behaviour of flora and fauna in bloom on his walks in Delhi’s Sunder Nursery, and also the personality of water as it punctuates foliage as a life giving force strongly yielding to its own existence. Through abstraction, he departs from using nature as a stage or scene. Instead, using pigments as language, Singh captures the cyclical movements, instincts and persistence of nature to overwhelm and pacify the seeker or observer.

When:  December 12 -30 (11am – 7pm)

Where: Shridharani Gallery, Triveni Kala Sangam
