Looking back

What: Remembering and taking note of what their forefathers have left them with and to heed to that calling of not merely documenting but expressing their sense of belonging to Meghalaya – artists Careen J. Langsteih and Conrad Syiem have put together a joint exhibition titled ‘Kynmaw: to remember, memories, to take note, to bear in mind’. Working on this from 2014, Careen’s series – ‘Faces from Home’ is an exhibition of portraits of women who have created an impact in her life just as the Sacred Groves at Mawphlang. The other series by Conrad – ‘Bearing Witness’ features Cyanotype- a 170 years old photographic print technique. What captures his attention are the Monoliths and the Living Root Bridges, both of which bear witness to the changing passage of time.
