The film highlights the contrast between a pure heart and a corrupt society. Barsaat (1949)

A love story between a young couple, torn apart by circumstances, with nature playing a key role in the unfolding emotions. This was Raj Kapoor’s first film as a director and a major hit. The film’s music, especially songs like Barsaat Mein Humse Milne, and the romantic portrayal of Raj Kapoor’s character made it a classic.

Jagte Raho (1956)

A man from the village, who comes to the city in search of water, finds himself caught in the deceptions of the urban world. The film focuses on the moral and ethical decline in society. This is one of Kapoor’s more socially conscious films, addressing issues like honesty, exploitation, and the harsh realities of urban life.

Mera Naam Joker (1970)

A deeply personal film, Mera Naam Joker tells the story of a circus clown who lives his life in search of love and acceptance but constantly finds himself abandoned. It’s a film that explores the life of an artist and the price of fame. Known for its emotional depth, experimental narrative structure, and the memorable line “The show must go on,” the film has earned a cult following despite being a commercial failure initially.

Anari (1959)

Raj Kapoor plays a young man who, through a series of comedic situations, gets involved with the lives of a wealthy family. The film emphasises the importance of honesty, integrity, and kindness. Known for its light-hearted yet meaningful portrayal of values, the film features Raj Kapoor in one of his more charming and humorous roles.
