These Five Star Players Might Be Playing Last T20 World Cup

The T20 World Cup 2024 could mark the final appearance for some of cricket’s finest talents. Veterans such as Matthew Wade, Trent Boult, Quinton de Kock, and Mohammad Nabi might be participating in their last tournament. Notably, David Warner has already announced this will be his final international assignment. Other top players like Rohit Sharma and Kane Williamson are also expected to retire from the T20 format after this event. Here are five veterans who might be playing their last World Cup:

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma, the Indian skipper, will be 39 by the next T20 World Cup. Despite his struggles in previous T20 World Cups, Sharma aims to end his T20 career on a high by winning the upcoming event.

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli has been India’s standout batter in the last three of four World Cups, finishing as the highest run-getter. Although his fitness and consistency remain top-notch, he faces criticism for his strike rate. Kohli might retire from T20Is to extend his Test and ODI career.

Kane Williamson

New Zealand’s Kane Williamson has faced fitness challenges recently, which might push him to retire from one format. Known for his prowess in Tests and ODIs, Williamson might prioritize these formats over T20Is.

Shakib al Hasan

Former Bangladesh captain Shakib al Hasan will be 39 by the next World Cup. Given his age, it’s unlikely he will continue playing all three formats, making this T20 World Cup potentially his last.

Andre Russell

West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell, a key player in ICC events, is now 36. With a constant influx of young power-hitters in West Indies cricket, Russell might soon step aside to make way for the next generation.
