India-Pakistan Tensions: Eight personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) were injured in Pakistani shelling along the International Border (IB) in Jammu on Saturday, officials reported.
The shelling occurred in the R S Pura sector, they said.
All injured personnel were promptly rushed to a nearby military medical facility for treatment, according to officials.
The BSF is responsible for guarding the more than 2,000-kilometre-long India-Pakistan International Border.
Meanwhile, prior to these injuries, the Border Security Force stated that it had “completely destroyed” a terrorist launchpad opposite Akhnoor in Jammu. This action was taken in retaliation for unprovoked firing from the Pakistani side along the IB.
The base was located in Looni, within Pakistan’s Sialkot district, a BSF spokesperson confirmed.
This followed Pakistan initiating “unprovoked” firing on BSF posts in the Jammu sector starting at 9 pm on Friday.
The BSF responded in a commensurate manner, causing significant damage to the posts and assets of the Pakistan Rangers along the international boundary, the spokesperson said.
