The national capital witnessed a 48% surge in reported incidents of crimes against foreigners in 2022, as per the latest data released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
In 2022, Delhi reported a total of 40 cases of crimes against foreigners, marking an increase from the 27 cases documented in 2021. However, this figure was lower than the 62 cases reported in 2020.
Contrastingly, the NCRB data highlighted a 20% decline in crimes committed by foreigners in Delhi. Specifically, 256 cases were recorded in 2022, down from 322 cases in 2021 and 168 cases in 2020.
A senior official from the Delhi Police emphasised the importance for foreigners visiting the city to promptly report any incidents to the nearest police station. They also advised keeping emergency contact numbers readily available, assuring swift action upon receiving any complaints.
“When any complaint is lodged, the police promptly take action,” the official added. (With inputs from PTI)
