After operating for two to three months, the accused had absconded. They cheated around Rs 7.5 lakh from these 29 victims, the police said

Four people, three of them women, were apprehended for allegedly orchestrating a fraudulent job racket promising employment in reputable companies, police said.

The individuals in custody are Nikita Thakur (32) and Yogita (29) from Shahdara, Hemlata (38) from Karol Bagh, and Mohammad Asad (22) from Sadar Bazar.

Authorities said that a case was filed following complaints from 29 individuals who claimed they were deceived into believing they would be hired as drivers, guards, or field workers for entities like Delhi Metro and Amazon.

The alleged culprits operated under the guise of Digi Recruiters at an office in Nehru Place during 2023.

After a few months, they absconded, swindling approximately Rs 7.5 lakh from the 29 victims, according to police sources.

Further investigation revealed that the gang had defrauded around 300 victims, not just the initial 29. The four key perpetrators were traced to Kaushambi, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, where they continued their operations using the same methods.

Upon arrest, incriminating documents were seized, indicating that the gang obtained potential victims’ details from an online job portal.

They reportedly contacted over 80,000 individuals but faced difficulty in converting calls into office visits due to increased awareness of such scams.(With inputs from PTI)
