The Delhi Police have issued a traffic advisory regarding Sunday’s Lord Mahavir Nirvana Mahotsav at Bharat Mandapam.
In commemoration of the 2,550th anniversary of Lord Mahavir’s nirvana, a special event will take place at Bharat Mandapam starting at 10 am on Sunday. This event, organised by the Jain community in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Culture, anticipates a significant turnout, potentially impacting traffic in the vicinity.
To facilitate smooth traffic flow near Pragati Maidan, certain measures will be enforced. No parking or halting will be permitted on Mathura Road and Bhairon Marg. General public entry will be restricted, and vehicles found parked along these routes will be towed to the Traffic Pit in front of Bhairon Mandir, Bhairon Marg.
Traffic diversions will be implemented at key intersections including the Purana Quila Road-Mathura Road crossing, Shershah Road-Mathura Road crossing, Dr Zakir Hussain Marg-Subramanian Bharti Marg crossing, Pandara Road-Subramanian Bharti Marg crossing, and the Q-Point.
Furthermore, commuters are advised to avoid Bhairon Marg, Purana Quila Road, and Mathura Road from the W-Point to the Bhairon Road crossing. Cooperation from the public is solicited, encouraging the use of alternative routes and public transportation options.
Individuals traveling to ISBTs, railway stations, or the airport are urged to plan their journeys meticulously, allowing for ample travel time. (With inputs from PTI)
