The Delhi Government’s Health and Family Welfare Department (GNCTD) has introduced Telemedicine services for 13 medical specialities via the Government of India’s e-Sanjeevani portal, according to an official statement.
To enhance healthcare accessibility, patients can now consult doctors and specialists through video calls on their smartphones or computers using this platform, the statement noted.
The GNCTD‘s Telemedicine services aim to provide affordable and accessible healthcare to patients from their homes, reducing the pressure on physical outpatient departments (OPDs) at hospitals, as per the statement.
These services are offered free of charge through the e-Sanjeevani Telemedicine Portal, covering specialities like General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBG), Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, ENT, Dentistry, Dermatology, Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, and Unani.

A total of 75 doctors and 67 link officers from these 13 specialities have been onboarded to provide their expertise, it added.
The Telemedicine services are available from Monday to Friday between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM and on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm.
Moreover, the department is preparing to launch an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign to promote awareness and ensure easy access to these services for all age groups and economic backgrounds, the statement added. (With inputs from PTI)
