Gurugram is set to transform into a hub of rhythm, colour, and creativity as it hosts the inaugural Gurugram Festival on November 23 and 24 at the Epicentre, Apparel House. This arts and cultural event will bring together luminaries from the fields of music, dance, visual arts, and literature, creating a platform for cultural exchange and dialogue between artists and audiences.
The two-day festival will feature performances by some of India’s most celebrated artists, including sarod maestro Pandit Partho Sarothy, a disciple of Ustad Dhyanesh Khan and the legendary Pandit Ravi Shankar; Pandit Uday Bhawalkar, one of the foremost exponents of Dhrupad; sitar virtuoso Samanwaya Sarkar; vocalist Debapriya Adhikari; and Kathak exponent Guru Sandip Mallick.
Vikram Dutta, founder of the Gurugram Festival, described the event as “more than an event” and “a vibrant celebration of India’s artistic spirit and legacy.” He added, “Offering an eclectic lineup of classical music and artistic performances, the festival will provide an opportunity for people to soak in an atmosphere that is bound to leave them mesmerised”.
Excitement among performers is palpable. Pandit Uday Bhawalkar, speaking about his upcoming performance, said, “I am delighted that I will be performing for the first time in Gurugram in an event like this. This is a great initiative to promote arts, music, and culture. I am looking forward to performing later this month”.
In addition to music and dance, the festival promises an immersive cultural experience, including literature sessions, workshops for children, and showcases by poets, painters, and photographers. The aim is to create a space where traditional and contemporary forms of art converge, fostering dialogue and creativity.
