A 45-year-old man was shot dead late Monday night in West Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh area, police said on Tuesday.
The victim, identified as Md Manzur, was a resident of Rajouri Garden and earned his livelihood by selling clothes in weekly markets across the city.
According to police officials, the incident occurred around 10 p.m. The local police were alerted by a hospital after Manzur was admitted with gunshot injuries. Despite efforts by the medical team, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Preliminary investigation suggests the shooting took place near Madipur when Manzur was returning home on his rickshaw after wrapping up business for the day. He was reportedly shot at close range by unidentified assailants.
“There are no indications of a robbery. His belongings were untouched, and initial findings suggest the motive could be personal enmity,” a senior Delhi Police officer said.
