India Habitat Centre is presenting ‘Tyger Tyger Burning Bright’, a solo exhibition by artist Virenpratap Singh Bhaika, curated by noted art historian Dr Alka Pande, at the Open Palm Court Gallery, Lodhi Road, from September 13 to 18.
The exhibition features 15 paintings, a 30-minute film titled Roar and Resilience, and selections from the artist’s sketchbooks. The showcase explores themes of ecology, conservation, and coexistence through a blend of painting, collage, abstraction and Gond-inspired works.
Currently a Fine Art Scholar at Harrow School, UK, Bhaika draws inspiration from India’s national parks, conflict-mitigation initiatives in Namibia and Tadoba, and his encounters with Gond communities. His recent works juxtapose the tiger with flames, excavators and fractured landscapes, creating poetic yet urgent images of survival.
“Each medium has taught me something—from the quickness of watercolour to the forgiveness of acrylic. My focus has shifted from accuracy to fragility, reflecting the broken balance between urban expansion and natural conservation,” Bhaika said in a statement.
Dr Pande described his art as being defined by “contrasts and connections—the tiger and the excavator, the village and the forest, myth and modernity.”

As part of the programme, a public discussion on “Human–Animal Conflict and Peaceful Coexistence” with the artist and students will be held online on September 14 from 4:30 to 5:15 PM.
