A 55-year-old man was shot at by unidentified assailants near a park in Begumpur area of south Delhi on Friday morning, police said.
The incident was reported to Malviya Nagar police station through a PCR call around 9:53 AM. The injured, identified as Lakhpat Singh Kataria, a resident of Begumpur, sustained bullet injuries and was rushed to a hospital for treatment, a senior police officer said.
According to the initial probe, two men intercepted Kataria near the park, fired at him, and escaped on an unidentified motorcycle. Police said a case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
In a separate development the same morning, Delhi Police, in a joint operation with Gurugram Police, arrested two men wanted in a July murder case following an encounter in Gurugram.
The accused were identified as Mohit Jakhad (29), a resident of Chhawla, and Jatin Rajput (21), a resident of Dwarka Mor. Police said they were allegedly involved in the killing of Neeraj Tehlan in Delhi’s Najafgarh on July 4.
The encounter took place around 4:30 AM when the accused opened fire, discharging six rounds. One bullet struck the bulletproof jacket of Head Constable Narpat, while another hit Sub-Inspector Vikas in the left arm. Police returned fire in self-defence, injuring both accused in their legs, an officer said.

The injured accused were taken to Civil Hospital, Sector 10, in Gurugram for treatment. Two loaded pistols, five live cartridges and a motorcycle were recovered from their possession, police added.
