Car rams into divider near hotel in New Delhi, two injured

The accident near Raisina Road triggered a brief commotion in the area, with police launching a probe into the circumstances that led to the crash

A car rammed into a divider near a five start hotel on Raisina Road in New Delhi on Monday, leaving at least two persons, a woman and a child, injured, police said.

The accident took place near the roundabout close to the hotel, where the car crashed into the divider.

Police said the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their condition is said to be stable. Further investigation into the matter is underway, police added.

The incident adds to the growing number of road accidents reported in the national capital. According to recent National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, Delhi recorded the highest number of deaths due to road accidents among 19 metropolitan cities in 2024, with 1,658 fatalities in 2,000 cases.

The NCRB report also noted that Delhi registered a crime rate of seven road accident deaths per lakh population. Of the total road accident deaths recorded in the city, 1,521 cases were linked to hit-and-run incidents, while 479 fell under other categories of road accidents.
