Police arrest 31 people, including alleged mastermind, software developer and fund handlers, after busting a customised software-based betting network in Mukundpur

A hi-tech gambling syndicate operating through a customised software-based betting network was busted here, with 31 people, including the alleged mastermind, house owner, software developer and fund handlers, arrested, Delhi police said on Friday.

Police raided a gambling den in Mukundpur on August 9 and apprehended 22 people allegedly involved in betting, they said. According to police, they seized Rs 6.29 lakh in stake money, 26 mobile phones, and other items related to the betting.

Police found that the den was part of a structured gambling network involving data operators, fund handlers, mediators, software deployers and collection agents, a senior police officer said.

The alleged mastermind, Ranjeet and premises owner Ramesh Kumar were arrested on August 12, while four key operatives, including software developer Rahul Dilwaliya, were arrested on August 18.

“The accused were using the customised software to process betting entries and maintain betting-related data. The police team recovered five laptops and five smartphones from the accused,” a senior police officer said. Further investigation allegedly revealed links with betting networks associated with satta bazaar. “On August 20, three more accused were arrested, including an alleged upper-level syndicate member, Nanak Sahu. The team recovered Rs 2.62 lakh cash, a laptop, three smartphones and a scooter from his hideout,” the officer said.

The total recovery includes Rs 8.92 lakh cash, seven laptops, 38 smartphones, including 12 containing the software. Further investigation is underway.
