Child bleeds as tutor beats him with iron pipe, locks him up in Bengaluru; a look at similar horrors

Teachers resorting to corporal punishments and merciless beating is not new in India and a similar shocking incident has come to surface in Karnataka capital city of Bengaluru. a class 10 student was left with head injuries after he was beaten with an iron pipe by his private tutor at his coaching centre in Bengaluru’s Yelahanka.

The 35-year-old man, identified as Vijay Kumar, has been arrested under Juvenile Justice Act and section 324 of IPC (voluntarily causing hurt). However, he was later released on station bail.

The incident took place on August 6. Revealing horrific details, the 15-year-old boy’s mother told The Times of India that Kumar used the iron pipe to thrash her son black and blue and left the child bleeding around 5:30pm. Despite his deep injuries, the tutor kept him inside the tutorial till 8.30pm without alerting the parents, she said, accusing Kumar of abusing them when confronted about the incident.

Meanwhile, Kumar said that his intention was “not to beat, but threaten”. “Their classes were over by 5pm and I asked them to go home and not stand outside. Yet, some boys were seen loitering outside the centre. When I asked what they were doing, they replied in an arrogant manner. I wanted to threaten the boys by swaying the iron rod but never intended to beat them,” he said.

A look at Similar Horrors

A tuition teacher, Amarkant Kumar aka Chotu sir, was seen mercilessly beating a five-year-old child in a viral video in Bihar’s Patna recently. He was arrested by the police on July 6. He has been charged under the various relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Justice Juvenile Act.

In the viral video, Amarkant was seen beating the kid with a cane and kicking and punching the five-year-old. The kid eventually fainted and sustained various injuries, including some on his chest and spine. He was later admitted to Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) and was discharged after he showed improvement in his condition.

The accused is also the school and also ran a coaching centre. Following the incident, police confiscated all the computers, furniture and papers of the school. Separate FIRs in the incident have also been lodged by the National Human Rights Commission and National Commission for Protection of Child Rights.

In Kerala, a tuition teacher in Kerala was taken into police custody for allegedly beating a child brutally Palluruthy near Kochi. Thirty-year-old Akhil allegedly beat a 4-year-old student severely for not studying. The mother of the child also alleged that she was even threatened by him against approaching the cops.

A case was registered under Section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC Act and Section 75 (Punishment for cruelty to child) of the Juvenile Justice Act.
