Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the violent assault on a man during Holi celebrations in the Jahangirpuri area of northwest Delhi, police said on Tuesday.
The arrested suspects — Anil (34), Rahul (24), Chandu Lal (58), and Ashok Kumar (58) — were apprehended following a series of raids conducted by the police in Jahangirpuri on Monday evening.
These arrests come after four others — identified as Sunil, Deepak, Amit, and a juvenile — were taken into custody last week in relation to the same case.
According to police, the incident took place on 14 March, when a man named Ajay Khatri (30) was attacked by a group following a verbal altercation. Khatri, who sustained serious injuries, was admitted to BJRM Hospital.
Khatri informed police that he had been celebrating Holi at home with a friend when a dispute erupted with a neighbour and a minor. Approximately 15 to 20 minutes later, a group of men armed with knives, sticks, and bricks gathered outside his residence and launched a brutal assault.
“Ashok Kumar allegedly hurled a brick that struck Khatri on the head, rendering him unconscious. Despite this, the assailants continued to attack him with bricks and sticks, inflicting further injuries,” a police statement said.
