Police announced on Saturday that four individuals have been apprehended on charges of operating unlawful vehicle scrapyards in the Ranhola area of west Delhi.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Tarlochan (50) from Tilak Nagar, Ramayan Yadav (59) from Hari Nagar, Jasbir Singh (76) from Paschim Vihar, and Gurdeep Singh (39) from Subhash Nagar.
Based on a tip-off regarding the disposal of stolen vehicles in Ranhola, the police conducted three separate raids on Friday. The raids took place at scrapyards located on Nangloi-Najafgarh Road, PP Colony, and near Chanchal Park, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Harendra Singh.
During the operations, law enforcement officials discovered that numerous old vehicles were being dismantled using gas cutters and other tools at these scrapyards. Additionally, the owners were unable to provide the necessary licensing agreements for running the scrapyards or any documentation pertaining to the vehicles being scrapped.
The police are currently in the process of determining the status of the vehicles. Various gas cutters and tools were confiscated from the premises. Details concerning the illegal scrapyards have been shared with the sub-divisional magistrate of Punjabi Bagh and the Transport department of the Delhi government, as stated by the police.
Singh mentioned that three separate cases were registered at the Ranhola police station on Friday, resulting in the arrest of four suspects.
Law enforcement authorities are actively investigating the vehicles to ascertain whether they were stolen and subsequently transported to the scrapyards to be dismantled for spare parts.
