A 16-year-old boy was detained on Sunday for allegedly killing his father in a moment of rage in Rohini area of Delhi, police said.
The boy reportedly struck his father with a plastic pipe after the man was assaulting his wife in Rohini, Delhi, leading to the father’s death.
A senior police officer said, “At 10.58 am on Sunday, a call was made to the Aman Vihar police station reporting the murder of an individual.”
The deceased’s body has been held at the hospital pending a postmortem examination, the police confirmed.
Initial investigations revealed that the deceased frequently assaulted his wife and children over minor issues while intoxicated, the officer said.

The officer added, “On Sunday, the deceased had an argument with his wife and was beating her when his son intervened, striking his father’s head with a plastic pipe, which caused his death.”
An FIR under the appropriate sections of the BNS has been filed at the Aman Vihar police station, Delhi police said. (With inputs from PTI)
