A woman was shot by her sister-in-law’s brother following a heated argument over pizza sharing in the Welcome area of northeast Delhi, police said on Thursday.
Authorities said four individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident, which occurred on Wednesday night.
The situation came to light when Seelampur police received information from GTB Hospital about a woman named Saadma being admitted with a gunshot wound, according to a senior Delhi police officer.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim’s brother-in-law, Zeeshan, had brought pizzas for the entire family on Wednesday. He distributed them among all family members, including Saadma, who is the wife of his younger brother, Javed,” the officer stated.
Zeeshan’s wife, Saadiya, who had a dispute with Saadma, became upset when her husband shared food with his sister-in-law, which escalated into a fight involving the three of them, the officer explained.

“Later that night, Saadiya called her four brothers—Muntahir, Tafseer, Shahzad, and Gulrej—to her home. An argument broke out between her brothers and her in-laws. During this altercation, Muntahir fired a shot that struck Saadma,” the officer added.
Saadma suffered a gunshot wound to her stomach and is currently receiving treatment at GTB Hospital, where her condition is reported to be stable.
The police confirmed the arrests of Muntahir, Tafseer, Shahzad, and Gulrej.
“We are investigating the matter thoroughly and recording statements from family members. Further inquiries are ongoing,” the officer said.
