The Delhi government has removed 3.4 million metric tonnes of silt from drains across the national capital, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Tuesday.
Ahead of monsoon the chief minister has asked all the departments to stay on alert and requested the public to report on MCD 311 application if they see any nearby drain uncleared.
“All the drains are being desilted in the national capital but in any case there is a drain left out near you, then people can report on on MCD 311 application, immediate action will be taken and that drain will be cleared,” Chief Minister Gupta said.
She further gave example of Minto Bridge underpass, saying that last year also after government’s efforts there was no waterlogging observed at the spot in Central Delhi.

“We will not let any waterlogging happen at Minto Bridge underpass this year also, this was because we carried out desilting work last year. Besides, we are also monitoring all other hotspots in the city,” Gupta said in a video message posted on X.
Earlier, the chief minister launched flood control department’s ‘Flood Control Order 2026’ and directed all concerned departments to ensure continuous monitoring of sensitive areas and made it clear that negligence of any kind during the monsoon season would not be tolerated.
