A 37-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his staff quarters in northeast Delhi on Tuesday, authorities said.
Law enforcement has initiated a murder case and launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
“Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital alerted us about the unfortunate demise of Ramji Lal Kumawat. Upon receiving the call, police teams promptly arrived at the scene and commenced an inquiry,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Joy Tirkey.
Reportedly, the deceased’s wife Sudha Kumawat revealed that she had been married to Lal for the past 12 years, and they share two children.
Lal, originally from Sikar in Rajasthan, served as a nursing staff member at the hospital, whereas Sudha is employed as a guest teacher in a government school, according to the police.
“The family had returned from Jaipur around 12:30 am on Tuesday after attending a wedding, traveling by bus. While their children slept in another room, the couple conversed for approximately an hour,” mentioned the DCP.
As per the police statement, Sudha woke up around 6 am to discover Lal lying in a pool of blood near the bathroom, where a knife was also found.
An extensive cut was observed on the right side of the neck, leading to the registration of a murder case at the New Usmanpur police station.
“We are actively investigating the matter. Efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect soon,” assured the DCP. (With inputs from PTI)
