The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) released its first list of 11 candidates on Thursday for the Delhi Assembly polls scheduled for February next year.
The list includes six leaders who recently joined the AAP after leaving the BJP and Congress. Brahm Singh Tanwar (Chhatarpur), Anil Jha (Kirari), and BB Tyagi (Laxmi Nagar) moved to the AAP from the BJP, while Zubair Chaudhary (Seelampur), Veer Singh Dhingan (Seemapuri), and Somesh Shokeen (Matiala) joined from the Congress.
Other candidates announced were Sarita Singh (Rohtas Nagar), Ram Singh Netaji (Badarpur), Gaurav Sharma (Ghonda), Manoj Tyagi (Karawal Nagar), and Deepak Singhal (Vishwas Nagar). The names were finalised during a meeting of the AAP’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC), chaired by party convener Arvind Kejriwal.

The Arvind Kejriwal-led party’s announcement comes just days after its key member, Kailash Gahlot, resigned and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Gahlot, who was also a minister in the AAP cabinet, resigned from his post and the party, in a massive setback before the February 2025 Delhi elections.
The Delhi Assembly elections, covering 70 seats, are set for February 2025. Kejriwal earlier stated that candidate selection would be based on their work, public opinion, and chances of winning.

In the previous elections held in 2020, the AAP secured a sweeping victory, winning 62 out of 70 seats.
