A woman and her brother were allegedly fatally stabbed by her husband using a screwdriver at their residence in east Delhi’s Shakarpur area, police said on Wednesday.
Kamlesh Holkar (29), a teacher at a school in Ghaziabad, and Ram Pratap Singh (18) were discovered in a pool of blood on the second floor of a residential building in Shakarpur on Wednesday morning, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Apoorva Gupta stated.
According to a police official, initial investigations suggest that Holkar and her husband, Shreyansh Kumar Pal, engaged in an argument on Tuesday night, leading to the fatal stabbings of her and Singh.
Singh, who was visiting the family from his hometown in Uttar Pradesh to celebrate the birthday of the couple’s two-year-old son, was among the victims, the official mentioned.
Pal was initially missing but later cooperated with the investigation and was subsequently arrested.
“He is currently undergoing interrogation,” the official stated.
DCP Gupta mentioned that the bodies were discovered by Holkar’s father-in-law Rambir Singh, who resides on the ground floor of the building. He had gone to the second floor to wake them up in the morning.
The police were informed, and the bodies were sent for postmortem examination.
The couple’s two-year-old son was present at the residence and is unharmed, the official confirmed.
Pal, an engineer currently unemployed, hails from a family with a background in the Indian Air Force and Delhi’s power department.
The suspect’s younger brother resides on the first floor of the same building with his family, according to the official.
Statements from all family members are being gathered, and investigations are ongoing, the official added.(With inputs from PTI)
