A man was seriously injured after being hit by a speeding car while crossing a road near Ek Murti Chowk in Greater Noida West, with a 14-second CCTV video of the incident emerging on Wednesday.
The incident took place around 4 am on September 5 when Himanshu Rai was crossing the road while carrying a birthday cake. A white Tata Punch approaching at speed hit him, throwing him several metres from the point of impact, according to reports.
Rai suffered multiple fractures to his legs, arms and spine and is reportedly undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.
According to a police complaint filed by Rai’s wife, the couple had gone out to get a birthday cake for him when the accident occurred. Rai was carrying the cake while crossing the road when he was struck by the car.
The footage shows Rai crossing the road before the car suddenly approaches and hits him. The impact sends him into the air before he lands several metres away. The cake can also be seen on the road after the collision.

The video has since circulated widely on social media, bringing renewed attention to the September 5 accident.
Police have arrested the accused driver and seized the Tata Punch involved in the incident, according to reports.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the collision and the events surrounding the alleged hit-and-run.
