Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday praised the three-year tenure of Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, stating that the “four-engine” government has propelled Delhi into the “top gear” of growth and development.
Saxena assumed office as Delhi’s Lt Governor on May 26, 2022. His tenure has been marked by a prolonged conflict with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government over various political and administrative matters.
The BJP ended the decade-long rule of AAP in Delhi by winning 48 of the 70 Assembly seats in the elections held in February.
Speaking at a programme organised at Bharat Mandapam, Gupta highlighted the achievements of the BJP-led central government over the past 11 years, three years of “good governance” under the Delhi LG, and the 100-day accomplishments of the Delhi government, according to a statement.
She described the day as another “significant chapter in the administrative and developmental history” of the national capital.
“Delhi has shifted to top gear with four-engine government at the helm,” Gupta said.
In contrast, the AAP leadership has criticised the BJP, claiming that its “four-engine” governance model has failed to deliver in Delhi. They pointed to recurring problems such as waterlogging and rising private school fees as examples of governance failure.
Gupta, however, maintained that under the “visionary leadership” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the “four-engine” government has embodied the values of “development, trust, and nation first.”
She cited key initiatives such as Digital India, Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Ayushman Bharat, and India’s growing influence on global platforms like the G20 as indicators of the country’s evolving global stature.
“Modi ji’s capable leadership has not only strengthened India as a nation but also proved that through missions like Operation Sindoor, India is fully committed to protecting the dignity and lives of its citizens,” she was quoted as saying in the statement.
The chief minister also lauded Saxena’s three-year tenure as a “strong step” towards administrative reform and transparency, the statement noted.
She acknowledged major initiatives taken under his leadership, including the rejuvenation of the Yamuna river, crackdowns on illegal constructions, and the execution of various infrastructure modernisation projects, it added.
