Delhi government is planning to set up a Science, Technology, and Innovation Council to come up with innovative solutions for the city’s local problems, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Monday.

In a message on National Technology Day, Gupta said the scientists, researchers and students of Delhi will have a very big role in the proposed Council.

Highlighting the scientific achievements of the country on the occasion, she paid tribute to the hard work of the scientists.

“From Pokhran to space technology and vaccine development, India has established a strong identity in the entire world,” she said.

The true purpose of science and technology is to make people’s lives easier. The Delhi government is continuously working on technology-driven governance with this very thinking, she said.

Modern technology and data-based solutions are being promoted and employed, whether it’s Yamuna cleaning, pollution control, traffic management, or waste management, she said.

The chief minister called up all stakeholders to work together to fulfil the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve of a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047.
