The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Wednesday announced that it will commence train services on May 25 at 4 am to facilitate people commuting in the national capital for election duty.
The trains will run with a frequency of 30 minutes on all the lines in the city for two hours, the DMRC stated.
“On the day of the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi on May 25, 2024 (Saturday), the Delhi Metro train services on all lines will start from 04:00 AM so that the staff deployed for election duty can avail the facility. The trains will run with a frequency of 30 minutes on all the Lines till 06:00 AM. After 6:00 AM, normal Metro trains services will run throughout the day,” DMRC stated in a statement.
Preparations for Delhi Elections
The State Election Commission (SEC) has deployed over 1,00,000 personnel, including sector officers, micro-observers, assistant expenditure observers, expenditure observers, flying squads, and static surveillance teams to ensure smooth conduct of polling proceedings in the national capital.
“Control rooms will operate around the clock. We have sufficient electronic voting machines for the 13,000 polling stations, with machines commissioned and the first randomisation completed. All necessary forms, documents, and registers are being prepared, and contracts for setting up polling stations have been finalised,” SEC said.
Voting for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Delhi is slated to take place on May 25, while the result is scheduled to be declared on June 4.
