A Bengaluru resident, Sadiqulla Baig, has been apprehended by Delhi Police in connection with a recently dismantled fake passport and visa racket, as reported on Saturday.

Officials revealed that Baig was taken into custody at Bengaluru airport upon his arrival from Dubai on Thursday. Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI) Usha Rangnani disclosed that a look-out circular had been issued against Baig after his involvement in a fraudulent visa case in Ludhiana, Punjab.

Upon Baig’s entry into India, airport staff in Bengaluru promptly alerted security personnel, leading to his immediate apprehension. He was then handed over to Delhi Police for further investigation, stated Rangnani.

The roots of the case trace back to a previous incident where a passenger, Harvinder Singh Dhanoa of Ludhiana, was found traveling with a counterfeit Canadian visa procured through an agent named Muskan, alias Manpreet Kaur. Manpreet, upon arrest, revealed that she had paid Rs 5 lakh to another agent, Sadiqulla Baig in Bengaluru, for the fake visa.

Despite multiple police raids failing to locate Baig, a look-out circular was issued. During interrogation, Baig confessed that the fake visa sticker was supplied to him by a Dubai-based agent. He further admitted to participating in fraudulent activities with his associates for financial gain.

As part of the ongoing investigation, Baig’s bank account, containing Rs 1.5 lakh, was frozen. Baig informed investigators that he had transferred the remaining funds to his relatives. Authorities are actively pursuing leads to determine Baig’s potential involvement in other similar cases.
