Delhi Police issues traffic advisory for Beating Retreat rehearsals

The Delhi Police has made elaborate traffic arrangements for the Beating Retreat rehearsals to be held at Vijay Chowk on January 27,28

Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory for Monday and Tuesday in preparation for the Beating Retreat ceremony rehearsals, which will take place at Vijay Chowk on January 29.

As per the advisory, Vijay Chowk will be closed to general traffic from 2 pm to 9:30 pm on both days.

The Beating Retreat ceremony marks the official conclusion of the Republic Day celebrations.

Traffic restrictions will be in effect on Rafi Marg (between the roundabout near Sunehri Masjid and the roundabout at Krishi Bhawan), Raisina Road (from Krishi Bhawan roundabout towards Vijay Chowk), areas beyond Dara Shikoh Road roundabout, Krishna Menon Marg roundabout, Sunehri Masjid roundabout towards Vijay Chowk, and Kartavya Path (between Vijay Chowk and ‘C’-Hexagon), the advisory stated.

Motorists and the public are encouraged to use alternate routes, including Ring Road, Ridge Road, Aurobindo Marg, Madarsa T-Point, Safdarjung Road, Kamal Ataturk Marg, Rani Jhansi Road, and Minto Road.

To ease congestion around Vijay Chowk and India Gate, DTC and other city buses will be diverted from their usual routes between 2 pm and 9:30 pm on both days.

Buses heading to Central Secretariat and Connaught Place from Shanti Path, Vinay Marg, and Sardar Patel Marg will take Panchsheel Marg, Simon Bolivar Marg, Vande Matram Marg, Shankar Road roundabout, and Sheikh Mujibur Rehman Road.

Buses bound for Central Secretariat will terminate at Udyan Marg and return via Kali Bari Marg, Mandir Marg, and Shankar Road.

Buses heading to Connaught Place will follow Mandir Marg, Kali Bari Marg, Baba Khadak Singh Marg, and reach Connaught Place, returning via Bhagat Singh Marg, Peshwa Road, Mandir Marg, Shankar Road, and Vande Matram Marg.

Buses heading to Old Delhi Railway Station, Red Fort, and ISBT Kashmiri Gate from the South will take Ring Road from AIIMS towards Dhaula Kuan, then proceed to Ridge Road and Rani Jhansi Road.

Buses coming from Ashram side for Old Delhi Railway Station, Red Fort, and ISBT Kashmiri Gate will follow Ashram Chowk, Ring Road towards Sarai Kale Khan, and then proceed via Raj Ghat, the advisory noted.

Buses bound for the South and South East, coming from Old Delhi Railway Station, Red Fort, and ISBT Kashmiri Gate, will take Delhi Gate, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, Rajghat, Ring Road, Sarai Kale Khan, and Ashram Chowk.

Buses coming from Vikas Marg bound for the South will take Ring Road, Sarai Kale Khan, and Ashram Chowk.

Finally, buses from Connaught Place via Kasturba Gandhi Marg towards India Gate will take Minto Road, DDU Marg, IP Flyover, Ring Road, and Sarai Kale Khan, the advisory concluded.
