Delhi Rain: Moderate rain likely in city

The maximum temperature is expected to settle at 32 degrees Celsius, the IMD said.

Delhi on Wednesday recorded a minimum temperature of 22.8 degrees Celsius, 2.8 degrees below normal, with the weather office predicting moderate rain.

The relative humidity at 8.30 am was 97 per cent.

The city’s primary weather station Safdarjung reported 19.8 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours ending 8.30 am. Palam reported 9.1 mm rainfall, Lodhi road 11.4 mm rainfall, Ridge 28.2 mm rainfall and Ayanagar 5.7 rainfall.

The maximum temperature is expected to settle at 32 degrees Celsius, the IMD said. The air quality was recorded in the ‘satisfactory’ category as the Air Quality Index (AQI) at 9 am stood at 52.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), an AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 ‘moderate’, 201 and 300 ‘poor’, 301 and 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 and 500 ‘severe’.

Doctors across Delhi’s major hospitals say that the right nutrition can lower the risk of pollution-related diseases in children by as much as 70%. “Air pollution is no longer just about smog or visibility, it is about what goes into our children’s lungs every day,” said Shalini Verma, Dietitian at Dr RML Hospital.

Delhi: Several routes diverted as rising Yamuna forces closure of Old Iron Bridge

The Old Iron Bridge across the Yamuna river was closed for traffic and public movement from 4 PM on Tuesday till further orders due to the increasing water level, the Delhi Traffic Police said.

In an advisory on X, the police said the closure will remain in force till further orders, and commuters have been advised to avoid the route. Traffic diversions have been put in place at Hanuman Setu, Bela Road (behind Red Fort), and the east and west sides of the Old Iron Bridge.
