Delhi: A teenage boy lost his life after being stabbed in the Seelampur area of the North-East district, according to the police on Monday.
The incident occurred on Sunday night, and authorities are working to determine the victim’s identity.
“The deceased, estimated to be around 17-18 years old, was discovered lying in a pool on the street. He was immediately taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. The body has been sent for an autopsy,” stated a police officer.

Officials are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area to gather evidence.
Meanwhile, crime rates in the national capital have seen a decline in several categories in January 2025 compared to the same period in 2024 and 2023, according to Delhi Police data. Attempted murder cases dropped to 50 in January 2025 from 71 in 2024 and 59 in 2023. Similarly, robbery cases decreased to 103 in 2025 from 146 in 2024 and 111 in 2023, while snatching incidents declined to 369 from 623 in 2024 and 558 in 2023.
Crimes against women also showed a downward trend. Cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and rape stood at 101 in January 2025, down from 134 in 2024 and 140 in 2023. Molestation cases dropped to 110 from 135 in 2024 and 163 in 2023, while eve-teasing cases fell to 16 from 24 in 2024 and 37 in 2023.
Burglary cases also saw a minor decline, with 566 cases in 2025 compared to 619 in both 2024 and 2023. Additionally, abduction cases reduced to 9 in 2025 from 18 in the previous two years, and fatal road accidents dropped slightly to 87 in 2025 from 93 in 2024 and 94 in 2023.
A senior police officer attributed the overall reduction in crime to increased surveillance, enhanced community awareness programs, greater patrolling, technology-driven solutions, and stricter law enforcement.
